How to setup Static Routes on your Netgear Router

Introduction

This article explains how to set up static routes on your Netgear Router.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Open your browser and type in 192.168.0.1 and press Enter. If you are having issues getting into your router please read our guide on how to find your router's IP address.
  2. Enter the username and password on your router login page. The default username & password are:
    username: admin
    password: admin
  3. Click on Static Routes.
  4. Click on Add.
  5. Enter the following information:
    Route Name: Google
    Destination IP Address: 8.8.8.8
    IP Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.255
    Gateway IP Address: (Your router's IP)
    Metric: 2

    Your router IP is the set of numbers that you entered in your browser in step 1 & 2.

  6. Click on Apply
  7. Click on Add and enter the following information:
    Route Name: Google
    Destination IP Address: 8.8.8.8
    IP Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.255
    Gateway IP Address: (Your router's IP)
    Metric: 2
  8. Click on Apply.
