How to setup Static Routes on Zhone Router

Introduction

This article will help explain how to setup Static Routes on your Zhone Router.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Open up a web browser and type in the following into the address bar: 192.168.1.1.

    If the previous step did not work please read the following article.

  2. Once the login screen appears, type the following to login:
    Username: admin
    Password: admin
  3. Once you are logged in, select Routing on the left side of the page, under Advanced Setup. Next select the Static Route sub-option. 

    For other Zhone router models select Static Routes under Advanced Setup

  4. On the Static Route page click Add. Then input the following values for the first Google DNS number (8.8.8.8):
    IP Version: IPv4
    Destination IP address/Prefix Length: 8.8.8.8/32
    Interface: br0 or LAN
    Gateway IP address: 192.168.1.1
    Metric: 2 
  5. Once done with the changes, hit Apply.
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the 2nd Google DNS Number (8.8.4.4) using the following values:
    IP Version: IPv4
    Destination IP address/Prefix Length: 8.8.4.4/32
    Interface: br0 or LAN
    Gateway IP address: 192.168.1.1
    Metric: 2
  7. *For other Zhone Router models: Destination Network/Host: 8.8.4.4
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 (If this does gives out an error message try using 255.255.255.255)
    Gateway: 192.168.1.1
    Metric: 2
