How to setup Static Routes on your FritzBox Router

Introduction

This guide explains how to setup Static Routes on your Fritz Box Rotuer.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Open up a web browser and goto http://fritz.box or 169.254.1.1.

    If neither of these worked please read this article to find your router's ip address.

  2. Login to your router. The default login is:
    username: admin
    password: admin
  3. Once logged in, click the View link at the bottom of the page and change it from Standard to Advanced.
  4. Next, select Home Network, followed by Network. Then select the Network Settings tab. 
  5. Select IPv4 Routes and click the New IPv4 Route button.
  6. Input the following values to your new route:
    Network/Host IP: 8.8.8.8
    Netmask: 255.255.255.0 (if this does not work use 255.255.255.255 or 255.255.255.252)
    Gateway: (Either put in your Router’s IP or you may opt to add 1 to the last number of your router IP. Ex. You may put in 182.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.2) 
  7. Once done enable IPv4 route active.
  8. Repeat steps 5-7 for the other Google DNS Server. Input the following values to this new static route:
    Network/Host IP: 8.8.4.4
    Netmask: 255.255.255.0 (if this does not work use 255.255.255.255 or 255.255.255.252)
    Gateway: (Either put in your Router’s IP or you may opt to add 1 to the last number of your router IP. Ex. You may put in 182.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.2)
  9. Once done with the changes hit Ok and restart your device.
